Amy, Carter & Brad

Cabin Fever Miniature Horses are located on a small farm in northwest rural Iowa.  This farm was founded on March 6, 1967 and cherished deeply by my father and mother, Tom and Shirley Smith. They have 3 daughters and 2 sons. With mom and I (the youngest child) by his side, on April 22, 2001, at the age of 68, dad lost his 58 year battle of Diabetes.  Dad passed away in his Log Cabin home that was built by himself and his family. Dad had already consigned all of Cabin Fever Miniature horses to the sale in Webster City, Iowa.  His wish was to sell the miniatures so mom wouldn't have to worry about them after his passing.  After 7 years with the pastures being over grown and the barns empty, my wife, Amy, and I returned to the Smith Family farm to ensure that the "Legacy Lives On".  We moved  to the farm to help take care of mom.  October 2007 also brought life to the barn and the pastures once again.  The miniature horses are returning.  Dad's dream was to raise well bred, friendly, and quality miniature horses. He was in the miniature horse business for the smiles on children’s faces and to those young at heart.  He didn't want to raise miniature horses for quantity, but to breed them for their quality.  Dad loved the miniature horses. On Sunday morning December 7, 2008, at the age of 72, mom passed away at our home with her family by her side.  The morning after she learned that we were going to have our first child. Through dedication and perseverance,  Amy and I will continue Dad’s dream and share his excitement, love, and joy for the miniature horses with others, as for mom,  we will keep life full of love, joy and excitement as the "Legacy Lives On".   July 20,2009 brought more love into our home.  Our first and only son "Carter" was born.  This Smith's Cabin Fever Legacy is growing!

Other than the love of his life, his wife Shirley, here is dad with another love, Maggie, one of his miniature mares with her 1st filly "Candy".
